The Avatamsaka Sutra is incredibly rich with visceral literary depictions that manifest wonderment, and are meant to encourage meditation. The descriptions are often, so vast and immense, they can seem beyond comprehension.
For Wudl, his paintings and drawings are an attempt to create a visual response to these texts, and to make sense of the notions and concepts that may be unimaginable within our limited scope. As such, the artist is constantly evolving his portrayals. In Moon of Liberation, Wudl experiments with showing simultaneously an array of ornaments, and what we might see in one of the small empty spaces within each ornament.
