Loosely based on a childhood friend, Anterabbit/Bleeder (a biography) is a fictional account of the life and mythos of an enigmatic Texas gambler, religious fanatic, possible gangster, magician and hemophiliac, as described in a non-linear narrative shaped through history, events, images, memory and hallucinations.
The piece consisted of three parts: an exhibition/installation that was shown at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art (1983), with a corresponding theater piece performed at the museum’s Sherwood Auditorium at the time of the exhibition, and the radio show Bleeder (1990), produced for NPR.
