This dichotomy between inherent and atmospheric light mirrors the duality of light itself, existing both as matter and energy. Some, such as Sandra Mendelsohn Rubin, Patrick Martinez, and Matthew Brandt, consider the domestic, reflecting the natural omnipresence of light in our everyday lives.
