Building a Gallery: Peter Goulds and Frederick Fisher in Conversation (2020)
Watch an intimate discussion between L.A. Louver Founding Director Peter Goulds and Frederick Fisher, the architect behind L.A. Louver's gallery space at 45 N. Venice Blvd in Venice, California. Prior to the building's completion in 1995, L.A. Louver operated across two separate locations in Venice (55 N. Venice Blvd and 77 Market St) as well as various off-site offices and storage facilities. With the need for growth inevitable, Goulds tasked Fisher to imagine a building that would service all of the gallery's immediate and unforeseen needs, from exhibition spaces and offices, to art storage and private viewing. This conversation will reveal the unique and collaborative relationship between gallerist and architect, to realize a building from the ground up.
